Position

Waterford is currently looking for an Area Manager to join the company. We are seeking an organized, self-motivated, leader who is capable of juggling multiple projects and clients. This individual will manage teams, work with customers and oversee on-site cleaning operations.

The Area Manager position reports to the Director, Client Services, and has functional responsibilities with the Director, Marketing & Operations.

Primary Role
To manage and co-ordinate the work of various teams of cleaning staff, ensuring the smooth daily operation of service that meet the requirements and standards of Waterford.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the work of teams of full and part-time cleaners, and arrange coverage in the event of staff absence.
  • Establish job descriptions for all staff.
  • Organize the workload of the cleaners, ensuring appropriate distribution of tasks.
  • Interview, hire, train and dismiss cleaners as required.
  • Ensure all cleaners are adequately trained for the duties they are to perform; including but not limited to WHMIS, health & safety, cleaning procedures, emergency protocol etc.
  • Monitor inventories of all cleaning materials, consumables and equipment to ensure that orders can be placed on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that the Waterford's Health and Safety Policy is adhered to at all times.
  • Liaise with the Facility Managers on a regular basis, dealing effectively with any problems or complaints that may arise.
  • Perform monthly (at minimum) cleaning inspections and submit to Facility Managers and Waterford Services
  • Maintain cleaning staff attendance logs and timesheets for submission to the Director, Client Services
  • Carry out other duties within the competency of an Area Manager that may be reasonably required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience within the janitorial or similar industry at a supervisory level
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and through writing when directing the tasks of janitors and preparing reports for Facility Managers and Waterford Supervisors
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to motivate staff
  • Strong training skills for teaching cleaners how to perform various cleaning procedures or use chemicals/equipment properly
  • Good time-management skills
  • Good judgment skills
  • Ability to communicate in Portuguese, Spanish, Filipino and/or Sri Lankan an asset
  • Valid driver license
